Convertly — Terms of Use
Effective: October 28, 2026 · An agreement between you and SMARTNESS HOME, SAS, 5 rue Agrippa d'Aubigné, 91090 Lisses, France — contact@smartnesshome.com.
By using Convertly you agree to these terms. If you do not, do not use it. Your use of the app is also governed by our End User License Agreement, and the data side is described in the Convertly Privacy Policy.
1. What the service is
Convertly is a free mobile app that converts units of measurement and currencies and performs everyday calculations: tips, bill splits, percentages and discounts, sales tax, fuel economy, time zone comparison, and clothing and shoe size lookups. It needs no account. It is supported by advertising, and every feature is available to everyone without payment.
2. What the results are, and are not
Unit conversions use the standard legal definitions of each unit (for example, 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly, 1 US gallon = 231 cubic inches), and results are rounded for display to the precision you choose in Settings. Calculations are performed on your device from the numbers you enter; a result is only as right as its input.
Convertly is a general-purpose aid, not a certified measuring or calculating instrument. Do not rely on it alone where an error could cause harm or loss — medication or dosing, engineering and construction, aviation or navigation, legal metrology, or trade by weight or measure. Check critical figures against an authoritative source.
3. Exchange rates are not the rate you will be charged
Currency results use indicative reference rates published by the European Central Bank, once per business day, which Convertly downloads from a public service. They are not live market prices. Banks, card issuers, payment apps and exchange offices apply their own rates and fees, so the amount you actually pay or receive will differ. When your phone is offline, the app shows the last rates it saved and says how old they are. Convertly does not offer, quote or execute any financial transaction, and nothing in it is financial advice.
4. Sales tax, tips and bill splits
The sales tax calculator uses the rate you enter. Sales tax depends on the state, county and city, and on what is being bought, and some items are exempt; Convertly does not know your local rules. Tip and split results are arithmetic aids: what to tip, and how to share a bill, is up to you.
5. Size charts and time zones
Clothing and shoe size charts are common industry conversions, not a standard: sizing varies by brand and fit, and the app says so next to every chart. Check the brand's own size chart before you buy. Time zone results rely on the time zone data in your phone's operating system, including daylight saving time rules, which governments occasionally change at short notice.
6. Advertising
The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. An ad is the advertiser's offer, not ours: any purchase or relationship that follows is between you and the advertiser. If you choose to watch the optional video offered on the Home screen, the app shows no other ads for 24 hours once the video confirms the reward. That reward has no other value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and no feature depends on it; if no video is available or you close it early, nothing else changes. Where ads appear and the choices you have over them are described in the Privacy Policy.
7. What you may not do
Do not copy, resell or redistribute the app or its content, attempt to break, decompile or reverse-engineer it, use automated means to access it, interfere with its advertising (including generating invalid clicks or impressions), or use it to do anything unlawful.
8. Content and ownership
The software, the design, the icon and the compiled reference content (units, size charts, city list) are ours or our licensors'. You may use them personally and share your own results freely. Exchange-rate data belongs to its source, the European Central Bank.
9. Age
Convertly is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Availability
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. It depends on third parties — ad networks, app stores, the exchange-rate service — whose failures we cannot prevent. Unit conversions and calculators work without a connection; currency conversion needs rates downloaded at least once.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, SMARTNESS HOME is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on a converted amount, an exchange rate, a tax, tip or split figure, a size or a time shown by the app. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case they do not apply to you.
12. Where this service is offered
Convertly is offered solely to residents of the United States, in English. Its defaults — US customary units, US dollars, US date and time formats — are built for US users, and we make no claim that the app is useful or appropriate anywhere else.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law — SMARTNESS HOME is a French company — without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the state where you live. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. Any dispute that mandatory law does not reserve to another forum shall be brought before the competent courts of Paris, France.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Material changes will be surfaced in the app rather than only posted here. The effective date above reflects the latest version.
